I Need Your Help (and you awesome vision)

So no one is really sure how old D is, but his owner has had him for a few years now and got him when he was only a year or two off the track so we are guessing he is somewhere in the 8-10 year old range. He does have a lip tattoo, but the front part (where the letter is that indicates the year) is not very readable.

We also do not know if he ever raced or if they just started him on the track and knew he wouldn’t make it as a race horse. He is not fast…at all. Even in the rare times I can get him to move forward in his gait, he is not exactly breaking any land speed records. He is a funny guy and I would love to know more about him so I am asking for your help. Below are some pictures of his lip tattoo and his teeth. Those of you who have better eye sight then I do, what do you think his tattoo is? And can anyone tell by looking at his teeth how old he actually is? Any guess would be appreciated!

My guess for his tattoo is a either a Z, B, I or J maybe? Which would have him born in 1996 (unlikely), 1998 (also not likely), 2005 (which is a maybe) or 2006 (which is also a maybe). I can clearly read that the next number is 4 and the one after it is 7, but then I go back and forth between a 2 and a 3 I think? And the digit after that could also be a 7, 1, or maybe a 9? I honestly cannot read the last digit at all.

If I can figure out his lip tattoo, I can do a Jockey Club search. Looking at the website, I have apparently failed at taking the lip number. I am supposed to do it on a cloudy day and try with a black light. In order to do an official search here, https://www.registry.jockeyclub.com/registry.cfm?page=tattooResearchProcessBreakdown&init=Y I at least need to know the letter at the start of his lip in addition to a few numbers. I know his mother would love to have it and she has been so great to me that I really want to try and do this for her.
