So it is Sunday and I needed a smile and I figured that you all did too. I have reported on here before about how British Nudie Model, Katie Price, wants to ride in the Olympics. She is an avid horse woman and, for a while there, was looking for someone to buy her an Olympic horse. I have not heard any news on her in a while, but I am guessing that no one took her up on her offer. I know that a lot of people don’t like her Olympic dreams, but I still have to give her a lot of credit for trying.
I thought I could put a smile on everyones face though with a little bit of video footage. It can be very frustrating for us normal dressage riders when we see someone go out and buy a fancy horse and fly through the levels. Here is a little reminder that the double bridle is a magical piece of tack…
The top video is her warm-up for a test at a show and the bottom video was her doing a demo during the HOY festivities. Notice that this is the SAME HORSE. Thoughts?

Well… I think that her flopping ponytails are dreadful.
I’d also say that sometime in between those videos the horse clearly was sent to a proper trainer.
She’s a bit of a mess, I like to laugh at her as she’s kind of a joke (you have to think that that is the image that she is going for though.)
I have to say, most of us British riders think she’s ridiculous, how she thinks she can just go to Germany, buy a Grand Prix stallion and just get into HOYS, Olympia, anything she wants.
Gah! If I had her kind of money, yes I’d buy myself a lovely cob to ride and love, but I’d maybe try to give some of my dosh to charity, i.e. The Brooke, who help humans and equines.
Makes me feel better about my own lack of talent! She’s a train wreck.
HA! Now I don’t feel so embarrassed that little old me ALSO looks down at the horse’s shoulder to check my diagonal! LOLOL!! Maybe I should try out for the Olympics, too!
wow, what a terrible rider. she was flopping all about, and her hands were all over the place and I dont think the girl knows how to sit a trot….and I agree with previous comment, that horse had to have gone to a trainer in those time periods for it to be able to do flyinh changes and the extended trot. he was a hot mess in the first vid.
im disgusted with her.
She is the kind of person who gives dressage riders a bad name. She is quite inept at riding and has simply bought her way up the levels.
(yes, people like her keep people like me in business. But it doesn’t mean I have to like it!)
The “hot mess” comment is right on. Everything about it- her riding, her horrible hair, her appaling website: just hideous.
i’m glad to see others agree with me! I linked this entry to a forum I frequent (islandhorsesforum.com) and talked about how it’s a prime example of what we see in even our local bronze level dressage and B level hunter/jumper shows. (i don’t do western so i can’t vouch for that). it’s not fair to the horse, or to other riders, especially when judges turn the other cheek to the riders’ lack of ability and place them high because they are on push-button horses.
there is a fine line between schoolmaster and push-buttton, and the horse in the videos is definately push-button!!
She is disgusting. My mum was a grand prix dressage rider and trainer, and still is. I’ve known that dressage world to be filled with classy, wonderful, down to earth people, that have respect for the sport. They did not try to tamper with tradition by tying in pigtails or putting sparkles on their tophats because they “didn’t like the colors”. It is TRADITION and an honor to be able to be a dressage rider in the classical form. Quite honestly I hate her.
Personally, I was raised in America, and used to be and equitation and hunter rider, and am now a showjumper, but I have absorbed a good deal of dressage from Mum. Her position is akin to a sack of potatoes, she’s hanging on the bridle, and her hands are all over the place. It’s repulsive, and I feel badly for any country that she wants to represent. She will NEVER be a good horsewoman if she buys her way with fancy horses. I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t even know how to take up a horse, let alone properly use a double bridle.
It’s repulsive to watch her play pony rider.
