So me being the huge Courtney King-Dye fan that I am I have been following the news very closely. I have filtered through it the best I could so here is what I consider to be the most credible, updated information. I am hoping and praying that Courtney not only makes it through this, but does so with no ill effects. I was kind of hoping to be able to write that she is responsive and progressing nicely this morning, no such luck. If I hear of any good news (which I hope too) I will post it.
Below was what was posted last night (Thursday night) to Facebook by Lendon Gray…there have been no updates since…
“I wish I had better news about Courtney. While the pressure in her brain subsided slightly overnight, after taking her off the sedation, she is in a coma. The neurosurgeon says it could be long term — or she could wake up in five minutes. He was less optimistic today than last night. Her parents are here with Jason and her brothers and sister will be here tomorrow. I will continue to update.”

Now if you feel the need to do something like send a card, or candy, or anything else you can think of to help Courtney King-Dye and her family know that we are all thinking of her you can send it to the following address…
St. Marys Medical Center

WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33407
ATTENTION: ICU for Courtney King-Dye
Having spent plenty of time with frirends and family in ICU I know that food baskets were helpful because the friends and family that were around are often so upset and distressed that they forget to eat. I plan on sending a card just wishing her well. She is still my dressage idol after all and I am sure that she and her family can use any form of support that they can get at this point.

So awful, I will be saying prayers for Courtney and her family.
Here is a cool video that was made for her by a friend as a wedding gift. It almost makes me cry now when I watch it. I just can’t believe it. I was on the dance floor with her at Players just a few weeks ago. She really is a very cool person. She’s just the real deal. She works hard, loves her horses, and is an amazing rider.
So, so sad! I’m really hoping she pulls through and can become a huge helmet advocate! It’s further proof that it CAN happen to the best of us.
Would you mind deleting the email from Jodie Kelly? I have spoken with her and this was a private email not to be published.
I hope like heck that she recovers – she’s such a beautiful rider and that video above brought tears to my eyes. Just yesterday my daughter asked me why I’m such a freak about her wearing a helmet. I had just heard the news about Courtney. I told her if a rider like Courtney can have a freak accident and suffer brain damage it can happen to anyone on any horse. I think I’m going to write my state reps tomorrow asking them to introduce legislation to make helmets mandatory for kids. I think a few states have made them mandatory in public places like horse shows.
