“But I’m A Dressage Horse”

How freaking cute is my fat spotted pony in this picture! He pretty much had the “this is stupid” face on the whole time I put the new tack on him. You would think Mr. Coldbacked would like the smaller saddle. Apparently the other horses were making fun of him about being a hunter so he was humiliated Luckily the bridle fits great. The saddle not so much, but with some padding at the withers it will be fine for the dozen times it will be used this year.

In other fun Ridge farm news we have a new baby horse!!! Isn’t she cute!

Her name is Pik C…Like Pixie because she is so small! Her Mom is a maiden but she is doing a great job so far! Not overly aggressive (we can still use the cross ties on that side of the aisle without causing her any stress) but protective enough. This little cutie (who is my favorite baby of the year) is a talker. She nickers whenever anyone walks into the barn and when the vet grabbed her tail to check her she squealed…for about a minute straight! I love her big ears. She is just adorable!

While the vet was there to check the new baby (Pik C is only 12 hours old in these photos) it was time to see if the mare who had the first baby was pregnant again. So she had to be sedated. Well, her son thought it would be fun to “play” with his Mom while she was drugged. Poor mare!

Sorry it is so blurry…the little bugger wouldn’t stop moving!

And just so you all can see what a giant this one is I went and took a picture after they were turned back out. He is only 2 and a half months old and look at him!!!

After all the excitement with the vet it was time to turn out Pik C for a little bit. Only 12 hours old and she took her first turnout like a total champ.

I can’t wait for this little girl to grow up!
