It is raining right now. Normally I like the rain. Today, however, I wanted a clear day. I need to ride today. Texas and I have only 2 weeks before our first show. And we need every ride we can get in! I know we are not as prepared as most horse/rider teams are, which is why we need to work, work, work right now. I think I am in a really good head space for our first show at the Crik. I don’t care how we do, I am just so excited to be showing again! Yay!
Our second show at the local show grounds though…that I am not in such a good place about. I just found out that not 1, but 2 trainers are entering horses in my division at that show. Don’t people know that I want my ribbons!! I need less than 6 people in a class. It is not a good sign that a month out there are 3 people in the class already! And to go in against trainers…man…it is like my show year with Gennyral all over again! It did take me a while to be okay with coming home from the show at the Crik empty handed so hopefully I can get over my issues with the local show grounds within the next month.
Another reason I am not loving the rain right now is because of Gennyral’s sore. Since we have to wrap his legs instead of putting boots on him (who knew I would actually miss sports medicine boots!) and wraps stretch when they get wet Gen is not allowed out on rainy days. My horse is not a big fan of being inside. I know lots of horses that are happy to stay in a stall all day. Gen is not one of those horses. He needs at least a little time to go out and stretch his legs everyday. So this morning since it is gross out Gen had to stay in…and he was not happy about it! I wish I knew how to post the evil looking picture of him from this morning. He is in total hissy fit mode. Poor pony.
So while the rain means some good things, like I can’t do yard work this morning so I have some extra time to do things like go over my tests to make sure I remeber them, I think today I need to say rain, rain go away, come again another day. What about you all out there…anyone wishing they had rain? Or are you all like me and not in the mood for bad weather right now.
Yeah, the rain pretty much decimated my plans to ride today too. I, on the other hand, did do some yard work once it ended thinking that the weeds would come out of the ground easier because it’s wet. Silly me.
Tomorrow its supposed to be sunny. I’ll go over there in the morning and at the least brush the pony.
