It hurts to breath right now…not for any bad reasons. It is because I am TIRED. My trainer KICKED my butt today. Texas and I needed that though. I have been a total slacker in the work out department…being in the car for 3.5 hours a day has killed my motivation on weekdays. After this lesson though I need to kick my self in gear again and 3 days a week is not good enough. Texas was being a royal pain at the start of my lesson but by the end we had such a lovely trot that not only did the Nice Local Trainer stop and say how nice he looked, but her pony club students who have known Texas since he was a foal stopped by as well to say how great he was going. I am on cloud 9 right now! It was totaly worth working through when the pain (you know you are working hard when it burns, and you know you are working even harder when it turns from burning to pain) to get complements like that. My core worked so hard that just sitting here typing this my tummy muscles are shaking.
And as for Gen I am happy to report that he is doing MUCH better. The swelling is down and so is the heat. He is responding well to the antibiotics, or at least the ones he can get into his mouth. I have a DVR’d Julie Goodnight on giving a naughty horse oral meds I need to watch. Her show is the only good one left on RFDtv. So other then the fact that it is hard to change my schedule so that I can get to the barn every night between 5+6 to change his wrap I am very happy with how things are going right now! I have pictures I need to get up of the infection.
Oh, and I will try to do a post about my GMO medals soon so you all will know what I am taking about!
And now for the viral video. For those of you who don’t know me I have a really bad habit of looking at bad horse youtube videos before I go to bed sometimes. I hate that I watch these horrible wrecks, but I keep doing it! Anyway this one was sent along by Lori and since I was torn between tears and laughter for pretty much all 6 minutes I wanted to share it with you. And according to the youtube comments all horses were fine (I would never post a video of a fatal injury…EVER) and just has some scrapes and bumps. The only person who I thought did a good job in this video was the announcer. See for yourself.

All I could say while watching this was “Holy Sh*t!” :O HOLY SH*T!
Eeegads…..
Yeah. Ok. Thanks for that OTB. Took my mind off the nasty storms/ tornadic thunderstorms that are here on top of us now….
Glad you had a good lesson and Gen is doing better.
After watching that video all I can say is good that nobody got hurt, I guess you can also say everyone their exercise for the day.
Wow, suddenly I am questioning my desire to get into the driving ring this year!
Runaways are always scary, but carts just add a whole new level of disaster. I’m glad no one was seriously hurt.
O M G !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That video was scary! Talk about a train wreck! Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get worse… it did! Yikes, thanks for sharing!
Glad to hear your lesson went well and Gen is feeling better!
WOW. Having competed with Morgans in carriage driving and CDEs, served as president of my state’s driving club, and having been in a carriage accident myself, the WORST thing you can do is shriek, get in the way, and LUNGE at the horse! I cannot believe how these people were reacting. Yes it is scary, but acting like a crazy scared person only makes the horse more crazy and scared! Appalling.
Do not let something like this turn you away from driving. Yes, it is dangerous, but if you train your horse well, understand how to prevent something like this, AND know what to ACTUALLY DO in the case of an emergency, everything is OK.
Dear lord.
Anyway, glad to hear you had a great lesson and Gen is doing well!
OMG… what a trainwreck!!!! Did I count 2 or 3 horses running amok one at a time? It looked like a combination demolition derby and tag relay. All I have to say is KUDOs to the announcer, as well as to the horses and handlers who DIDN’T freak. Two things really annoyed me about this… (1) the shrieking from the audience even after the announcer asked for silence, and (2) the “uh-oh squad” in the ring. Did they really think they were helping matters by playing “chase and dodge”, waving their hands and hollering “whoa”.
And I have one last thought on the subject… contrary to what some may think, driving is NOT a good alternative to riding after one becomes older, arthritic and less agile.
Glad Gen’s doing better.
I had heard about this wreck but hadn’t seen the video. Very unfortunate but it sure could have been much worse. The comments, however, got my blood boiling. I may just feel a post coming on over this. Nothing I hate more than people trashing Arabians.
