Saturday was a very good day for Gen. Why? Because it was the first time in a long time that it was warm enough for him to go outside naked! My horse loves to be nakie! He hates the fact that I make him wear jackets all winter long. If he could grow a freaking winter coat it wouldn’t be such an issue, but he does not so I have to make sure he stays warm. This weekend we got a taste of spring…and it was wonderful!

Here is a picture of my pony yesterday. And that wasn’t even Gen at his dirtiest this weekend! Saturday he was a lot grosser then even today and both days you could still see a little white. You know what I love about this time of year? The fact that I don’t even care anymore that my horse is a total mess and that his field is covered in divit holes from his running. I am just so happy that he can be NAKED and that the ground is soft enough to sink down when he runs! I mean really…look at the picture above…there are few things that make my horse as happy as a nice chestnut camouflage.

Now I did have to scrap him off because I am mean like that. Don’t worry…he just went right back outside and rolled. I love that his tail is yellow all over again because I just washed it yesterday! I tried to take advantage of the warm weather to get at least part of him clean. You would think I would know better by now. I know this weekend was not the real spring. They say it is going to get colder this week. I don’t care though and I don’t think Gen does either. It was just nice to not have to have a jacket on! Soon the grass will start to grow again, the hay piles will get cleaned out of the fields and I will be crying about how muddy my horse gets every day with all the rain we will have. For now thought it was just nice to have mud again instead of the frozen ground. I can’t wait until spring. And the first bath of the year! I feel very brave for posting such gross pictures!
So what are you all looking forward too most about spring? I know it is my favorite season. What about you?

Spring is my favourite too! The horses at the barn were without blankets for 2 days – too bad it is snowing again today.
We have another month before spring is here for good. I love watching the snow melt and the buds come out on the plants/trees. It gives me hope again! lol
I gave up grooming my horse after 20 minutes yesterday – the whole barn was filled with a cloud of white hair…
Hooray for Spring! I don’t even care that it’s overcast or that my horses are mud-caked from stem to stern. Spring is in the air, and my old bones are happier. Of course, I will be coughing up horse-hair-balls for the next month or two. Yesterday I wore white and gray hair. Today I will be wearing red and Fjiord-colored hair. I’m going to start charging my clients extra for shedding out their horses. haha. I must remember to buy another sticky roller to keep in my car.
YAY. We actually hit the 80s down here this weekend, even my clipped pony was naked overnight. It’s still in the 60′s today but tomorrow it’s supposed to get a little cooler and start raining. But I don’t think it’s supposed to get all that cold again for a while — spring might have sprung for us!
My favorite part about spring is not breaking up ice in water buckets, and the fact that my boy doesn’t suffer quite as much with his arthritis. And yeah, not dealing with blankets is great, too!
Oh boy, I can’t WAIT to see the search traffic you get on this post after using a word like “naked” that many times. This is going to be fun.
Best part of spring? T-shirts, leaves, and no more winter coats (on the horses that is).
The best part of Spring is less clothing for horses and humans and no ICE! I hate ice more than snow. I have some even dirtier pictures of Donnie from the mud this weekend, you can’t believe how dirty he is and the princess Dusty even rolled and got filthy. I’m guessing their not itchy anymore. I’m sort of hoping they get caught in the rain for a little bit so there won’t be so much brushing to do. Gen looks really happy to be naked and dirty.
